Margit Molnar obtained her first Masters in Law at the University of Pécs. In 1985 she qualified as a solicitor. She received a postgraduate degree in Sociology and Social Policy at the Eötvös Lorand University, Budapest. She is a Candidate of Science in Sociology. (Title of thesis: "The Beginnings of Social Policy. Institutions of Social Care in Ancient Greece and Rome")She started her academic career as a lecturer in 1991 and is a founding member of the Department. She acted as Deputy Head of Department and Programme Leader in Social Policy for several years. Previously, she used to work in the field of child protection.
Research
Her major area of interest is the history of Social Policy in Hungary and in Europe. Currently, she is studying the role of Protestant traditions in providing education and social care in Hungary in the 17th-18th century.
She is developing a researchers' network in Central and Eastern Europe to establish the Carpathian Social Professionals' Workshop. (Partners interested in joining this network are most welcome!)
She is founding member of the Social Innovation, Evaluation and Research Centre, a unit of our department that has recently been established.

Scholarships, awards:
April, 2008: Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She has conducted research and held lectures in Social Policy. She has been working to develop a network of professionals in the Carpathian Basin. Her visit has been supported by the Leonardo Programme.
